Struggling Readers, Welcome!
Dec 09, 2025
You’re in the right place. Truly.
If you’re a parent or tutor trying to help someone learn to read—and that someone is struggling—take a breath. You’ve landed exactly where you need to be.
Maybe your school-aged child is working twice as hard to read half as well. Maybe they avoid books and homework like it’s the plague. Maybe you’re homeschooling and the “traditional” curriculum just… isn’t clicking. Or maybe you dread reading with your child because each and every page feels like a painfully slow journey to Mordor, and you feel guilty for not enjoying what was "supposed" to be a sweet activity.
Maybe you’re a tutor who knows your student is bright, but the words on the page still aren’t sticking.
Maybe you have a formal dyslexia diagnosis, maybe a Special Education eligibility, or maybe you’re in that frustrating in-between place where you know something is off, but no one has been able to explain what or why. Perhaps you've been asking for support, and you're getting radio silence or "He's doing just fine at school!" Maybe you want to pull your hair out every time you communicate with the staff.
Maybe you know you need help, but you're scared of what that will look like and where to find it.
And if you're on a budget?
Then you are exactly who I had in mind when I built this space.
What you’ll find here
This blog is a resource, a refuge, and a roadmap. You’ll find relatable stories, practical strategies, and clear, step-by-step support to help your struggling reader make real progress at home.
No jargon. No guilt. No overwhelm.
Just guidance that works at the kitchen table.
Who am I to guide you?
I’ve spent 20 years working with students in the special education and dyslexia world—that’s two decades of sitting beside kids who were told they “just need to try harder," watching parents fight for answers, and figuring out how to teach reading in a way that finally makes sense.
If you want the full backstory (there are some juicy bits), you can visit my bio.
But here, my focus is simple:
Helping you get your child from Point A to Point B… and doing it really well.
Reading help shouldn’t be a luxury
I believe wholeheartedly in tutoring and private schools—they’re wonderful options when families can access them.
But let’s be honest: many families simply cannot spend $500–$1,000+ per month for several years to get the help their child needs. And that shouldn’t mean their child is left behind, discouraged, or convinced they’re “not smart” because reading feels hard.
Not on my watch.
You can teach your child to read at home.
And you can do it with confidence, clarity, and support.
My job is to be your field guide—to hand you the map, the notes, and the exact steps to help your child move forward, while helping you sidestep the pitfalls I’ve seen over the years.
There is hope for your child’s future
Dyslexia is not a dead end—it’s simply a different path. Your child’s future is still bright, still full of potential, and still absolutely within reach.
Together, we can build their reading and spelling skills to the point where they can pursue whatever they dream of. That’s the goal. That’s the mission.
And I’m honored you’re here.
💛 Welcome. You and your child belong here.
